Student representatives of Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College – WVCST Miagao Campus bagged awards during the 106th Foundation Anniversary of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology on September 5 – 9, 2011.
Ramon Tuares III, John Mark Gabenite, Alva Marie Peñaflor and Rafael Arroyo II won second place in Academic Contest, category B (General Information and Fundamentals of Coputer), while Rafael Jose Nanas, Ronel Mark Suarez, Justine Estrologo, and Elmo Bautista won third place in category A (Science and Mathematics).
“We are proud to make it. We go out in this campus having nothing and we came back carrying nothing but honor,” stressed Mr. Ramon Tuares III, Student Government president.
The Skills Contest was held on the second day with Clark V. Antiquiera who won first place in Web Page Design, Renald Jay Fio, first place in Digital Arts, Julie Ann Moleño, first place in Blouse Making and Roderick Tatlonghari, first place in Motor Control.
“The awards only show that the SIPC students are very competitive in terms of academic and skills competition” says Mr. Ely S. Ciasico, head, Office of Student Affairs Services.
Other winners in the Skills Contest were Jomarie Gelano, second place in Web Page Design, Romon Ronnie Nismal, second place in Digital Arts, Lester John Loreno, second place on in Welding, Rezel Francisco, second place in Hot Air Soldering, Mike Argueza and Ronly Jariolne, third place in Logic Circuit, Jeffery Majesterio, third place in Welding, Marco Anthony Gaspacho, third place in Napkin Folding. The skills and academic contest were participated in by the different satellite campuses of WVCST.
