The Office of the Extension Services Department headed by Mr. Arsenio P. Montaño reached out to adopted schools and barangays of the College.
The Teacher Education Program conducted a whole-day session entitled “Parents’ Education” with the mothers of the recipients of the Busog Lusog Talino Feeding Program of Jollibee with SIPC as implementing partner at Guibongan-Igtuba Elementary School, an adopted school of the College. Thirty-three mothers from Guibongan, Kirayan Sur and Kirayan Norte Attended the session on October 23, 2011. The Core Faculty of the Teacher Education Program facilitated the extension project with Mr. Dolores N. Galang, the Extension Services Coordinator of the Teacher Education Program and Mr. Arsenio P. Montaño, Head of the Extension Services Department as Project Leaders. The participants, facilitators and speaker were given free snacks and luch and Certificates of Attendance and Appreciation. Topics and lectures were “Rights and Roles of Parents” by Dr. Raul F. Muyong, Campus Administrator of SIPC and Professor of Teacher Education. He stressed on the responsibilities of being a good parent at the same time clarified their rights as parents. He point out that being parents begets a lot of responsibility not only to themselves but also to their children. He also advised them that their duties and responsibilities do not end on bearing children but also to take care, provide proper education at the same time devote quality and quantity time for them; “RA 9710 (Magna Carta for Women) Salient Provisions” by Miss Herminia N. Falsario, member of the Gender and Development (GAD) Committee of the College and Assistant Professor IV of the Teacher Education Program. She emphasized the rights and privileges of women in accordance to law. She pointed out that women have a big role and task in the society that they are nor merely persons of “the home” but they also have a big responsibility to the society; “Household Hygiene and Sanitation” by Mrs. Dolores N. Galang, Professor of Home Technology and Technology and Livelihood Divisions; and “Health and Nutrition” by Miss Ma. Victoria N. Fermindoza, School Nurse. They emphasized the need of clean surroundings, proper care and hygiene in their home and proper nutrition to their children. Mrs. Galang explained to the parents the proper disposal of garbage and handling of food. Also, she gave tips on how to make their homes clean and free from diseases. Ms. Fermindoza taught them easy to prepare but healthy foods for their family. She stressed that nutritious food are not branded food but rather foods which are readily found in their backyard of they are just industrious enough to plant fruits and vegetables.
The Closing Program was done with Dr. Raul F. Muyong giving his message followed by the impressions given by Mr. Hydie Mererague and Ms. Analyn Sarita who were thankful to the College for educating them. Mrs. Celsa M. Negrido, Principal I of Guibongan-Igtuba Elementary School was very much grateful for the services extended by the College to the school and its stakeholders, the parents and the pupils.

Other extension services rendered to the community were the following: a) Basic Literacy Training focusing on the basic reading, writing and numeracy. The duration of the activities and the recipients were February 19 – April 6, 2011 at Barangay Sta. Rita, San Juaquin, Iloilo with 48 preschoolers, Elementary undergrads and Out of School Youth; February 26 – April 3, 2011 at barangay Baybay Norte with 20 preschoolers and 27 Elem. Undergrads; March 5 – April 10, 2011 at Barangay Igpuro, Miagao, Iloilo with 32 participants; March 5 – April 13, 2011 at Barangay Napnapan, Tigbauan, Iloilo with 33 preschoolers; b) Basic Computer Skills Training on May 3-5, 2011 at SIPC Computer Laboratory with 32 Elementary Schools teachers from the adopted schools of the College; May 26-27, 2011 at the SIPC Computer Laboratory with 16 Heads of the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Miagao; c) Feeding Program in partnership with Jollibee Foundation “Busog Lusog Talino Program” at Guibongan-Igtuba Elementary School with 40 pupils from Grades I & II; d) Scholarship Program in partnership with ERDA Foundation, Inc. at Guibongan-Igtuba Elementary School with 33 pupils from Grades V & VI.
