The Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College – WVCST Miagao Campus is privileged to have Dr. Virginia P. Resurreccion, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education in Region VI as Guest Speaker during the Opening Program of the 67th Foundation Anniversary Celebration on February 1, 2012.
Dr. Resurreccion is one of the pillars in the Commission on Higher Education. She finished her Doctor of Philosophy major in Development Education from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila in March 1991 with a distinction of Meritissimus. Determined to achieve success, she took and passed the Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) examination in 1998.
Her career in the Civil Service commenced when she was first appointed as an Elementary Grades Teacher in 1970-1975. She was then promoted to the various positions in the Department of Education Culture and Sports from 1977 to 1995. In 1995 to 2001, she worked as Director, Office of the Student Services, Commission on Higher Education, Manila. She has been a Regional Director of CHED Regional Office III (Central Luzon); CHED RO Office IV (CALABARZON) and CHED RO II (Cagayan Valley). From June 18, 2009 to November 30, 2009, she was appointed as Special Assistant to the Chairman, Commission on Higher Education. Presently, she is appointed as Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI.
She received numerous awards and distinctions. To mention a few, she was a Huwarang Filipino Awardee in the Field of Education given by the Office of the Press Secretary in 2003. In 2006, the Federation for World Peace awarded her the Ambassador for Peace Award.
Dr. Resurreccion is an active member of the various professional organizations. She has also attended numerous national and international trainings, seminars and conferences. As an advocate of quality and excellence, Dr. Resurreccion has done a great difference in the Philippine Higher Education.
In her speech, she encouraged all the stakeholders of the College to continue doing their best in order for SIPC to move forward for quality and excellence in education.
