CHED-TPTE recommends BTTE offering

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) – Technical Panel for Teacher Education (TPTE) recommended the offering of Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE) program at SIPC WVCST-Miagao Campus effective School Year 2013-2014 upon compliance of the deficiencies noted in the laboratory requirements during their visit on September 20.

SIPC is the first institution in Western Visayas evaluated by the CHED-TPTE spearheaded by Ericson Reyes, CHED-OPS Representative with Dr. Nenie Galedo, ES II, CHEDRO VI and Engr. Alan P. Lena, Ph.D., ES II, CEDRO VI. Other members of the technical panel were Dr. Purita P. Bilbao and Dr. Larry Gabao.

“We are happy that we are the first institution in Western Visayas to offer the new program that will be operated next school year,” says Mrs. Veronica E. Fajarillo, Assistant Professor I.

There are minimum standards complied by the college in order to operate the new program as based in CMO No. 56 series of 2007. The Application for Government Authority/Permit to operate BTTE Program has been recommended upon such compliance.

The following are the minimum standards: I. The Dean/Department Chair must be a holder of master’s degree of preferably DTE or Ph. D. in any of the areas of specialization in the program; a holder of a valid certificate of registration and professional license (LET); employed full-time and renders at least 30 hours a week of service and carries a regular teaching load not exceeding 9 units; with at least three (3) years of very satisfactory teaching experience in technology/teacher education institution; and with at least three (3) years of very satisfactory supervisory experience; II. Faculty – A. Technology Instructors/Professor (TESDA) B. General and Professional Professor (LET – MA infield of specialization), C. Full – Time faculty, D. Teaching Load requirements : 24 units/one preparation, 21 units/two preparation, 18 units/three or more preparation. III. Instructional Standards. IV. Library: A. Librarian, B. Holdings, C. Seating Capacity. V. Curriculum (CMO No. 59, S.1996) CMO No. 56, series of 2007: A. General Education, B. Professional Courses, C. Areas of Specialization. VI. Facilities and Equipment: A. School Site/Building, B. Classrooms requirements and class size, C. Laboratory requirements. VII. Admission and Retention Policies. VIII. Support Facilities: Auditorium, Sports and recreational, Cafeteria/Canteen, Faculty Lounge, Student Lounge, Guidance Area, Medical and Dental Clinic. IX. Support Staff – Must professionally trained with valid PRC licenses. X. Fire Fighting System. XI. Research. XII. Community Extension.

The BTTE is a new program to be offered by the Department of Education (DepEd) for the states, universities, and colleges that can pass the evaluation conducted by the TPTE and CHED. The new course was intended for the K + 12 Program.
