ISAT U Miagao Campus, under its Extension Services Department and Research Services Department, hosted a two-day Seminar-Workshop on Building Knowledge and Skills in Weaving Industry, Business Marketing Strategies, Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, and Education for Hablon Weavers’ Community in Miagao.
Several topics were discussed by competent speakers such as business marketing strategies and trademark, cooperative and management, garments and textile industry in the Philippines, science of weaving and dyeing of thread, history, materials, and terms used in hablon weaving, and designs and processes of hablon weaving. These topics were designed to impart knowledge, spread awareness and provide technical support to micro-small-medium scale enterprises who are involved in hablon industry.
A total of thirty five (35) participants attended the seminar-workshop. They were waivers/representatives from the hablon weavers’ community in the Municipality of Miagao. Some faculty members from the Industrial Technology and Hospitality and Business Management departments were also invited on the said training.
Participants were very grateful to ISAT U Miagao Campus for all the knowledge and practical technologies they have learned for these will provide them with an opportunity to grow economically as well as to boost tourism in Miagao.
