Air crackled with excitement as the vibrant opening parade of the Salakayan Festival 2025 snaked its way through the historic streets of Miagao on February 3, participated by all walks of life, from local officials and students to cultural troupes and community organizations.
At the heart of the parade lies the commemoration of the historic battle of Miagao, a testament to the bravery and resilience of the town’s ancestors. Competing cultural troupes mesmerized the crowds with their graceful street dances, rhythmic drumbeats, and captivating music.
Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, grand champion of the Dinagyang Tribes Competition 2025, electrified the crowd with their high calibre street dancing during the opening parade and program as guest performers.
The opening parade was just the beginning of a week-long celebration of the 27th Salakayan Festival and 309th Foundation Anniversary of Miagao, filled with a variety of activities and events. From traditional reenactments and contests to cultural exhibitions and performances, the annual Salakayan Festival, a colorful tribute to the town’s rich heritage and the valor of its people, offers something for everyone.
